Melted Wax Crayons

I received a phone call this morning from my friend Damodar Priya.   She was very excited about an activity she had just finished doing with her daughter Miss J (3).  She said it was fun and different and suggested we give it a go.

So this afternoon we did!

We placed a play clay item in the oven (actually we placed it directly over the stove but it started popping and bits flaked off, so maybe the oven is better idea) until it was hot.  You can use rocks too, I believe.

Then while they're still really hot you draw on them with wax crayons.  The wax  immediately begins to melt making it look like shiny paint.

Of course you have to remind the children over and over again that the pot is HOT and not to touch it with their hands or any other part of their body.

Miss S loved it, she squealed with delighted the first time she began to draw.
