Walkabout Wednesdays

The climate here is mostly HOT and HUMID, so for the few months of the year when it's cool and pleasant, I've decided we should make the most of it and go out.

So, Wednesdays have become Walkabout Wednesdays where most of our learning will take place outside while exploring new places.

Our transport.

Yesterday we headed out to the Island of Godrumadwip.  I had nothing planned.  But R (5) and I were keeping our eyes open to see what we would like to learn about.

Why are the Jalangi and Ganga rivers different colours?

How does this pump work?

A quick stop at the Mrdanga making workshop.  They've now expanded and are making African drums too.  The shopkeeper gives us a demonstration.

R tries it out too.

This is where our travels pretty much stopped.  A carpenters workshop.  R loves carpentry and he didn't want to go anywhere else.  We must have been here about an hour.

Measuring,  now R can see the practical benefits of knowing about measurement.

He's making a base for the bed.

A bit of entertainment as well.

Some artistic and skillful carving.

One happy boy.
